Facilities

Technology Class

Our needlework room, now used as the Technology class, is situated in the oldest part of our buildings where Mrs Harley teaches our Learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7 as part of the CAPS curriculum technology syllabus

Art Room

This is another old room in the school where
Mrs J Pather help our children have fun in experiencing their artistic talents and aid them in developing skills like painting, sculpturing with clay and designing all types of works of art.

Library

Our Library teacher, Mrs. G Grose, brings our children here for one period per week to assist them in basic library skills and to encourage them to read and broaden their general knowledge. We regularly have Readathons in the library.

Help-To-Read volunteers also use this facility to assist Learners with their reading skills.

Shine Centre

The SHINE Centre was established 10 years ago by Maurita Wiesenberg at Observatory Primary School.

It is a literacy programme aimed at Grade 2's as research has shown that if children dont read by the time they are 8 years old, they are unlikely to.

Claremont Primary School has had a centre since 2009 with Di Kerswill as the link person.

40 Volunteers work one on one with over 40 children per week.

Claremont Primary Staff has been very opening and welcoming to SHINE and we hope to go from strength to strength.

After Care

Our after-care facility consists of two small buildings, the main after care and the home work room. The children that are picked up later in the afternoon are fed and cared for in the after care, every afternoon. Mrs. L Holden assists the children with their homework in the homework room.

Tuck shop

We have a small tuck shop, run by Mrs van Rensburg, that provides fruit juice, pies, cool drinks, sweets and chips for the unquenchable appetites of our very active young children.

Khanya Lab

Our new Computer Lab (called the Khanya Lab) was fitted out by the Department with 24 brand new computers that are used by all the Learners and Educators to reinforce and help with basic curriculum subject learning.

Classes go to this lab with their Educator and are helped with using math, reading and other programs. They also use the Internet for research.

Dance Classes

Dance lessons are given by Mr M Godongwana and Mr T Mbatsha who instruct all classes, individually, in different forms of dance as part of their curriculum marks for Creative Arts.
